Relationships Australia opens in Broadmeadow

Minister for Children and Youth Affairs, Larry Anthony, today officially opened the purpose-built Relationships Australia NSW facility in Broadmeadow.

“The Australian Government provides approximately $59 million under the Family Relationships Services Program to around 100 community organisations that provide family relationships services through about 400 outlets across Australia.

“Relationships Australia NSW receives around $4.5 million for a range of family relationships services including counselling, mediation and children’s contact services.

“The new Broadmeadow facility will provide help for families in the Hunter region as they meet the challenges and demands of raising children and balancing work and family responsibilities.

“The facility will also provide a venue for couples to attend pre-marriage education to enhance their relationships and gain valuable skills to help them through times of conflict and stress.

“Other services such as post-separation counselling and support services for children will be available to assist families through times of crisis.

“As a not-for-profit provider, Relationships Australia is working to enhance the lives of individuals, couples and their families, communities and workplaces helping them deal with issues central to their lives.

“Relationships Australia NSW plays a vital role in the community to help people manage change, conflict and diversity in their relationships and this new facility will ensure even more people can benefit from their service.

“Services provided in this new facility by Relationships Australia NSW through Family Relationships Services Program funding is another example where the Government is working in partnership with local organisations and the community to provide the best possible support for our families and our children,” Mr Anthony said.
