Member for Mitchell, Alan Cadman took Minister for Children and Youth Affairs, Larry Anthony, to the Hills District Youth Service today to see first hand the work that they do.
Hills District Youth Service provides recreation, education and family support programs to the 27,000 young people in the Hills Shire.
“It is vitally important for young people to have access to services which allow them to develop and get the most out of life.
“Young people often face a range of pressures. In order to help them, we need to provide services which are flexible, effective, and relevant to the circumstances of young people and their families,” Mr Anthony said.
“The Hill District Youth Service received around $65,000 in Federal funding this year, as part of the Youth Activities Services and Family Liaison Workers programs,” Mr Cadman said.
“The services provides practical support and guidance to young people and their families. It is there to help them deal with difficulties such as family conflict, lack of communication or other issues affecting their resilience as a family.
“The Hills District Youth Service is vital to this community and has make a real difference to young people by helping them to relate to their families, while boosting their self-esteem, confidence and communications skills,” Mr Cadman said.
“The Coalition Government recognises that young people are Australia’s future. We are committed to providing services that give them the best possible opportunities to develop their skills and to strengthen their family relationships,” Mr Anthony said.
