More funding for disability employment success story

Minister for Community Services, Larry Anthony, today announced more than $200,000 in extra funding for a disability recruitment organisation whose unique approach has led to enormous success.

Mr Anthony said Employers Making a Difference (EMAD) had exceeded all expectations in creating employment opportunities for people with disabilities.

“This organisation has had great success in targeting and supporting employers to put people with a disability into jobs.

“Research shows that people with disabilities make up around 19 per cent of the available labour market nationally and are dedicated and productive employees who have a positive influence on those around them.

“The Coalition Government is committed to continuing to promote the benefits of hiring people with a disability to employers.

“Funding will be used to meet EMAD’s increased business and extend the New South Wales Disability Recruitment Co-ordinator service to the Australian Capital Territory.

“We see this as a real opportunity to further build on EMAD’s success and we will continue to do all we can to help people with a disability get a job and fulfil their potential,” Mr Anthony said.
