360 new Centrelink jobs
Federal Minister for Community Services Larry Anthony today announced Centrelink will recruit 360 new call centre staff, to deal with employment and family queries.
“Centrelink Call currently employs 3,327 staff, and the additional 360 staff will help Centrelink customers,” said Mr Anthony.
“Most of these new staff will handle queries regarding employment and family payments.
“Centrelink Call currently receives more than 22 million calls per year and is the largest single purpose call centre in Australia. With high levels of demand in recent months, these new jobs will help ensure calls are dealt efficiently and effectively.
“The Coalition Government is working to help families, simplifying 12 payments into three and creating 550 Families Assistance Offices across Australia, supporting more Australian families.
“Since 1996 we have opened 11 new call centres, and expanded 14 call centres, and more than doubled the number of jobs in our call centres to approximately 3,600.
“This Government is committed to getting people into jobs and helping families. Centrelink Call is a vital part of Centrelink’s service, and I am pleased that there will be 360 additional Centrelink staff available to help,” said Mr Anthony.
