New building for Gympie Child Care Centre
The Gympie Uniting Church Child Care Centre in Queensland will receive more than $580,000 to move out of the 100 year old building that currently houses the community long day care service.
Federal Minister for Community Services, Larry Anthony, announced the funding today as part of the Government’s Capital Replacement and Upgrade Program.
“This funding will let us build a new centre to cater for 51 children,” Mr Anthony said.
“The service is located on a busy main road, so moving the centre will let parents drop-off and pick up their children in a safer environment.
“The new building will also provide children with improved access to bathroom facilities, a larger internal play area and upgraded equipment.”
Mr Anthony said community-based child care centres played a vital role in providing access to high quality, affordable child care to thousands of Australian families.
“This funding demonstrates the Federal Government’s commitment to ensuring all parents and children enjoy a safe, nurturing and healthy child care environment.”
