Statement on Christine Nixon
Christine Nixon is doing an excellent job as head of the Victorian Bushfire Reconstruction and Recovery Authority.
Her hard work on the ground, and ability to communicate with the people hit by the February 7th fires, have played a key role in the rebuilding that has already occurred, and I have full confidence in her ability to keep doing the job.
My priority is to keep working with the State Govt and VBRRA to rebuild bushfire damaged areas of Victoria, and Christine Nixon has a major role still to play in rebuilding.
The Royal Commission has been set up with wide-ranging powers to ensure we learn the lessons of the bushfires.
It is important that we let the Royal Commission complete its work and make its recommendations before passing judgment.
