Australian Disability Enterprises launched

Disability business services across the country will now come together under the name Australian Disability Enterprises.

, Bill Shorten, today launched the name and new logo at Waverley Industries, a Victorian disability business service.

“Not only are we putting a name to all Australian business services, we have a new logo to be used across the board, and a business directory,” Mr Shorten said.

“The directory is a useful reference for Government departments and agencies, as well as the wider business community.

“It will contain details of products and services provided by Australian Disability Enterprises.

“The directory is part of a broader range of materials aimed at increasing visibility of business services in Australia.

“A redesigned website will also be available from March 2009, making it easier for potential customers to engage businesses and access to up-to-date information at any time.

“Revised Commonwealth Procurement Guidelines, which take effect on 1 December 2008, will provide an exemption and flexibility for Australian Government Departments and agencies looking to undertake simple procurement processes from disability Australian Disability Enterprises,” Mr Shorten said.

Federal Member for Chisholm, Anna Burke, said she was pleased to join Mr Shorten at the launch.

“By engaging an Australian Disability Enterprise, business and government sector customers are contributing to their organisation’s corporate social responsibility and supporting meaningful work for people with disability. Australian Disability Enterprises really are ‘More than just good business,” Ms Burke said.

Australian Disability Enterprises are commercial businesses operating across a wide range of industries, from design, printing and packaging to manufacturing, laundry and landscaping. They provide supported employment for people with disability in an environment which offers the same conditions as any other workplace, including the payment of fair wages.
