Celebrating National Playgroups Day
National Playgroups Day is a perfect opportunity for mums, dads, grandparents, caregivers and children to celebrate the value of playgroups around Australia.
Mr Brough said the Australian Government supported initiative had allowed many playgroups around Australia to celebrate the important day and take time out to recognise how much their group meant to them.
"National Playgroups Day allows everyone to celebrate playgroups and recognise the invaluable role they play in providing opportunities for friendship and learning for families with children," Mr Brough said.
"Playgroups provide a fantastic way for children to play, learn, grow and have fun together while at the same time giving their mums and dads the opportunity to chat and share ideas and parenting experiences.
"Many groups have been formed in recent years and the Australian Government has provided $22.5 million over five years to support the 100,000 families across Australia who are involved in playgroups.
"We are committed to supporting families and I would encourage anybody who is not involved in a playgroup to contact the Playgroup Association in their state or territory on 1800 171 882 to see about joining or starting their own."
National Playgroups Day is held during National Children’s Week (21 to 29 October). Events and activities are being held in communities all over Australia to celebrate National Children’s Week.
