Absolutely No Increase In Pension Age
The Government has absolutely no intention of increasing the qualifying age for the aged pension.
Any reports of a secret agenda to the contrary are simply wrong.
The recommendation in question was not requested by the Government nor had it ever been brought to the attention of the Government before the journalists made their enquiry.
No proposal to raise the pension qualification age is being considered by the Minister for Finance or the Government
While some public debate has taken place about Australians working longer, this is a matter for individual choice and not something the Government is proposing to mandate.
