Minister Cobb visits Orange

The Minister for Community Services, John Cobb, was in Orange today to visit Wangarang Industries, a local organisation providing employment for up to 125 people with disability.

‘Wangarang Industries offers employment to people with disability to provide packaging and mailing, a laundry service, garden maintenance and light textile manufacturing to the Orange community,’ Mr Cobb said.

‘In 2006-07 this organisation will receive up to $1 million in funding under the Australian Government’s Disability Employment Assistance Program, which includes $33,000 in recognition of the additional cost of providing this service in a rural area.

‘The Australian Government is also working with Wangarang Industries to assist them to further develop their business, demonstrating the Government’s commitment to supporting businesses which offer real opportunities to people with disability and provide valuable services to their local community.

‘I congratulate Wangarang Industries on their commitment to supporting people with disability in the Orange community and wish them continued success in the future,’
Mr Cobb said.

The Disability Employment Assistance Program offers employment, support and assistance to people with a disability, enabling them to enjoy the same basic rights and opportunities available to all working Australians.
