Access Community Services providing supports for migrants across Queensland

Assistant Minister for Children and Families, Michelle Landry today visited Access Community Services (Access) as part of her visit to Logan, Queensland.

“It is wonderful to see the work Access Community Services are doing to help migrants and vulnerable Australians in the Queensland community,” Minister Landry said.

“The services provided by Access assist new arrivals to feel connected to their new home and part of Australian society and their local community.

“The support provided by Access crosses a range of Australian Government programs, from helping people settle into life in Australia to offering them training and employment opportunities”.

Access also provide support services to help migrant youth increase their social participation and engagement in education, leadership and sports.

“With the appropriate supports, migrants and refugees quickly become self-reliant and successfully participate in Australian society,” Minister Landry said.

Access is a community based, not-for-profit organisation that provides services to migrants, refugees and Australian born clients across Queensland. They are a well established organisation, with over 30 years of experience providing support in the local community.

The Australian Government has committed around $6.5 million across 2018-19 to 2021-22 to Access to provide support to migrants and refugees. The funding is provided as part of the Settlement Engagement and Transition Support (SETS) program and the Settlement Services Youth Transition Support (YTS) initiative.
