Labor to scrap child care assistance for families?

Labor needs to come clean and admit whether they would scrap the Howard Government’s valuable assistance for parents – the Child Care Benefit and Child Care Tax Rebate.

Tania Plibersek is only giving Australian families half the story about the cost of child care, failing to take into account the significant assistance that families receive from the Howard Government to assist with the cost of childcare.

Labor has not included Child Care Benefit or the Child Care Tax Rebate – real assistance for families. They have also failed to take into account the $281 increase in Average Weekly Earnings since 1996 – a result of the Howard Government’s strong economic management.

It appears that Labor in government would scrap child care assistance worth several thousand dollars a year to families.

Is Labor really suggesting that this money is not real, like their completely unfounded claims that the $600 per child increase in family assistance was not real?

Ms Plibersek needs to get a grasp on reality, and understand that Child Care Benefit and Child Care Tax Rebate is a real payment for families.
