Historic child care building receives funding update
The Ella Community Child Care Centre in Sydney will receive $182,600 to upgrade the 100 year old building that houses its community long day care service.
Federal Minister for Community Services, Larry Anthony, announced the funding today as part of the Government’s $150 million Program to support child care services and improve the quality of care.
“This funding will allow essential facilities in the 40 place long day care centre to be repaired and upgraded to comply with health, safety and licensing requirements,” Mr Anthony said.
Ella Community Child Care Centre in Haberfield currently provides full and part time care for working families with varying child care needs.
The funding will allow a kitchen renovation, the development of a small outside toilet block and the construction of an external covered deck, which will enable the children to eat and play in a sheltered environment.
“Community-based long day care centres play a vital role in providing access to high quality, affordable childcare to thousands of Australian families,” Mr Anthony said.
“The Government wants to ensure all parents and children enjoy a safe, nurturing and healthy child care environment.”
