Bill Shorten supports greater awareness for people with disability
Parliamentary Secretary for Disabilities Bill Shorten has supported the push to increase the awareness of disability in the community by attending the Business Breakfast of the Great Australian Sunny Sizzle as guest of honour.
“I support the good work done by the Interchange organisation who’ve organised today’s events,” Mr Shorten said.
“Interchange recognises that people with disability have just as much right to a social life as anybody else.
“The program also gives carers and family members a break from their everyday caring role by providing camps, recreation activities, support groups and other activities.
“Interchange is a not-for-profit, community-based organisation that provides a vital role for people with disability and their families.
“I commend them for this and join with them as they aim to create more awareness about the issue of disability in our community,” Mr Shorten said.
