Bring It On! Young Australians have their say on youthweek.com

National Youth Week is Australia’s single largest celebration of young people. Today’s launch of youthweek.com, the website for National Youth Week 2002, brings this celebration a step closer.

In fact, the website is the essential starting point for the 3.8 million 12 to 25 year olds right across the country who will celebrate National Youth Week 2002, from April 7 to April 14.

youthweek.com features a nationwide calendar of events and chat sessions with young Australian achievers.

Other on-line activities include ‘have your say’ polls and the chance to win great prizes thanks to National Youth Week supporters the Commonwealth Bank, TV HITS, Girlfriend, Inside Film Magazine, the ATO and Centrelink.

Today’s launch also marks the opening of national online talent competitions in music, digital art, writing and video.

Judged by industry experts, ten finalists in each age category will be published on the web site for a final vote by the people who count – young Australians. The National Youth Week competitions provided the perfect stage for all young people to express themselves and get involved.

I am pleased that the Commonwealth Government can be part on an event that celebrates the potential, enthusiasm and ability of our young people who define us now and will shape our future.
