Alice Springs Town Camps

I was very disappointed to hear of the decision of the Tangentyere Council today.

Clearly I do not believe it is in the best interests of the Town Camps, particularly the children of those camps, nor of Alice Springs as a whole.

I was contacted at 5.00pm Brisbane time today by Northern Territory Chief Minister, Clare Martin, who expressed equal disappointment with the decision and requested until close of business Wednesday to allow her to have further discussions with Tangentyere with a view to changing their decision.

I immediately concurred with her request and hope that she can be successful in helping achieve a positive outcome.
