Launch Yourself into Australia’s biggest youth event

The lead up to National Youth Week (NYW) 2007 has begun, with the launch of the bigger and better website, full of information, activities and fun … just for youth.

The Minister for Community Services, John Cobb, today said NYW was the largest single celebration of young people on the Australian calendar and urged them to become involved by logging on to National Youth Week websiteExternal Site

‘The website is the perfect source for activities and events across the country during NYW, held next year from 14 to 22 April,’ Mr Cobb said.

‘The site also provides an opportunity for young people to play a role in NYW, win prizes, stage their own events, enter talent competitions and voice opinions on issues relevant to them.

‘During NYW 2006, more than 253,500 young people participated in NYW events and activities across Australia.

‘Over 5,000 young people entered the Win Free Stuff competitions and the National Online Talent competitions, RockIT, WriteIT, ShootIT, DesignIT, SnapIT, attracted over 870 entires.

‘NYW is a time to recognise and celebrate the contribution and value of all young Australians to their local communities.

‘I encourage all young Australians aged 12-25, along with friends and family, to get involved in the diverse range of competitions, events and activities celebrating NYW,’ Mr Cobb said.
