Federal Minister for Community Services Larry Anthony, today announced an extra $100,000 for in-service training and support on quality issues for the South Australian childcare sector.

“Training will be provided in different forms, including seminars, small group coaching and self paced learning. Trainers will facilitate discussion forums as well as visit work places.

“Rural and remote areas of South Australia are guaranteed a share of the training services to be provided.”

Mr Anthony said the Federal Government is committed to ensuring high quality childcare services are available to all Australian families.

“The Childcare environment is very influential and as such staff providing child care need to be kept up-to-date with developments in their industry,” he said.

“Children are an important asset to Australia’s future.

“The care they receive during their formative years needs to be of the highest possible standard.

“This extra funding for child care in-service training in SA will result in substantial benefits to our children and their families.”
