$5.19 million to upgrade child care centres
The Federal Government will spend $5.19 million to upgrade community based child care services across Australia.
“This funding will help 348 child care centres improve their health, safety and licensing issues through the renovation and repair of buildings and playgrounds,” said Federal Minister for Community Services Mr Larry Anthony.
“Many child care centres will use the funds to upgrade essential facilities, including bathrooms, kitchens and playground surrounds.
“These improvements are all vital in providing a safe, healthy environment for children.”
Mr Anthony said the Government had an ongoing commitment to provide quality day care services to Australian families.
“It is essential that low and middle-income families with young children are able to access high quality and affordable child care,” he said.
Childcare Assistance and the Childcare Cash Rebate are available to eligible families. Families who need information about child care should call the Commonwealth Government’s national Child Care Hotline on 1800 670 305.
