Rudd Government Opens Sydney City Family Relationship Centre
Attorney-General Robert McClelland and Tanya Plibersek have today officially opened the Sydney City Family Relationship Centre.
Mr McClelland said the new Centre provides important advice and dispute resolution programs information and referral services to families experiencing family difficulties or going through separation.
“The Rudd Government is strongly committed to supporting programs and initiatives such as this, which can help minimise the negative impact on children when family separation or disruption occurs” Mr McClelland said.
“Separation and divorce can be extremely traumatic events. Family Relationship Centres offer vital support for separated parents so they can resolve their conflicts and place the interests of their children first.”
The Sydney City Family Relationship Centre is one of 65 new Centres which are in operation across Australia.
Ms Plibersek said the Centre will also provide an information and referral service.
“The Sydney City Family Relationship Centre will become an important resource for the local community, helping families when they are going through tough times and helping parents reach arrangements that are in the best interests of their children,” Ms Plibersek said.
The Sydney City Family Relationship Centre is located at ground level, 118 Sussex Street, Sydney. Telephone: (02) 8235 1500.
