Applications open for Women’s Leadership and Development Grants

The Australian Government invites eligible non-government organisations to apply for grants of up to $100,000.

This is the largest amount of funding ever provided through the WLDP grants and demonstrates the Rudd Government’s commitment to supporting women’s NGOs.

Applications for funding must be for projects with measurable outcomes, which will benefit women at either a national or local level.

The grants will be awarded to projects which assist national women’s NGOs or contribute to public policy or service development.

Projects must be completed within 12 months of commencement, with funding allocated to successful applicants by 30 June 2008.

Proposals must aim to promote women’s social inclusion, for example projects which assist marginalised women to better be able to participate in their community.

The proposals can also either build women’s capacity to take on greater leadership responsibilities or build the representation and contribution capacity of women’s non-government organisations.

The Rudd Government is keen to build dynamic relationships with the community sector to ensure women’s perspectives and the diversity of women’s needs influence the development of policies and programs across all tiers of government and business.

Application Guidelines and Application Forms are available online at Women – Grants & Funding via email women (women@fahcsia.gov.au) or by telephone on 1800 808 863.

Applications close at 3pm AEST on Friday, 9 May 2008.
