Expressions of Interest open for ILC grants
- Expressions of Interest open for more than $7 million in grants
- Grants to boost employment and recreation opportunities for people with disability
The Commonwealth and Western Australian Governments have today announced $7 million in funding to increase employment and recreational opportunities for people with disability.
The third round of Information, Linkages and Capacity (ILC) Building grants follows joint State and Commonwealth funding of nearly $9 million awarded to 65 projects across WA in 2017/18.
The ILC is a key component of the Australia-wide National Disability Insurance Scheme and is focused on building the capacity of the community, people with disability, their families and carers.
This round of funding provided by the National Disability Insurance Agency as part of the ILC transition arrangements for WA, focuses on building capacity to improve recreational and employment opportunities for people with disability and raising awareness of their contributions.
The four priority areas are:
- Building the capacity of organisations delivering recreational pursuits and activities to provide inclusive services
- Building the capacity of people with disability to engage in meaningful employment
- Providing employers with information and tools to employ people with disability
- Building awareness and capacity within communities of the contributions of people with disability
Expressions of Interest close on 3 December 2018.

Comments attributed to Federal Assistant Minister for Social Services, Housing and Disability Services, the Hon Sarah Henderson MP
“ILC grants are a key pillar of the NDIS. Around the country, successful ILC grants have included initiatives targeting activities that enable people with disability to participate in mainstream and community life,” Ms Henderson said.
“The Morrison Government acknowledges each state and territory has its own needs and that’s why a partnership approach to preparing the community is so critical.
“The funding will see projects supported across WA including in rural and remote areas, and for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities.
“By providing the resources and know-how to prepare for the NDIS ILC program, we hope to see exciting new ideas and programs which will ultimately benefit people with disability and their families, in particular, improving employment outcomes for people with disability.
Comments attributed to Disability Services Minister Stephen Dawson:
“I am incredibly focussed on delivering employment outcomes for people with disability and it is also one of the main focus areas of the State Government.
“Having a job is as much about making a contribution to our community as it is recognition of our value to society. Employment promotes self-esteem and provides vital opportunities to interact with others, creating a sense of belonging, meaning and contribution to the community.
“This is just as important for people with disability as it is the rest of us and my hope is this funding goes a long way to substantially improving the employment outcomes for people with disability in Western Australia.”
