Nigel Webb appointed new Co-Chair for National Disability and Carers Advisory Council

Sarah Henderson, the Assistant Minister for Social Services, Housing and Disability Services welcomes the appointment of Mr Nigel Webb as the new Co-Chair of the National Disability and Carers Advisory Council.

“Mr Webb has extensive experience as a board member of a number of advocacy and support organisations for people with disability,” Ms Henderson said.

“His wealth of experience will be a great asset to the Council.”

Mr Webb’s experience includes Chairperson of the Queenslanders with Disability Network, President of Queensland Advocacy Incorporated and member of the Queensland Disability Advisory Council.

Mr Webb also brings to the role lived experience, being a person with cerebral palsy.

“I am looking forward to the opportunity of working with the other members of the Council to ensure the Government continues to be well-informed about matters that affect people with disability and carers,” said Mr Webb.

Mr Webb replaces Ms Keran Howe as Co-Chair of the Council.

“I thank Ms Howe for her contribution to the Council and her perspective on issues that Australians with disability face every day,” Ms Henderson said.

The Council provides advice to the Government and helps drive reform agendas impacting carers and people with disability.

Its membership comprises representatives from industry and services sectors and non-government organisations. Members include people with disability, carers and disability sector experts from across Australia.
