A fully funded NDIS
The Turnbull Government will fully fund the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) that is providing life-changing support to Australians with disability.
Because of a stronger economy and an improved Budget fiscal position, the Government can now fully fund the NDIS without increasing the Medicare levy.
Minister for Social Services Dan Tehan said the NDIS would support more than 460,000 Australians at full operation.
“The Australian people support the NDIS because they are prepared to provide a helping hand to help others,” Mr Tehan said.
“They didn’t want to see political games over the NDIS, they just wanted it to be fully funded and providing support to Australians who needed it.
“The Turnbull Government recognised the importance of the NDIS and had a plan to cover the $56 billion funding gap that had been left behind by Labor.
“Labor didn’t support that plan so the Government has come up with a Plan B that fully funds the NDIS through a stronger economy and fiscal responsibility.
“As Treasurer Scott Morrison said, we must now focus on delivering the NDIS in the most efficient and effective way.”
