Centrelink move to The Domain approved
Minister for Family and Community Services, Senator Amanda Vanstone, today announced that approval has been given to enter into a precommitment lease agreement for the construction of a new Centrelink Customer Service Centre building at The Domain, Marion.
“The new building will be close to the Marion Shopping Centre and strategically located in The Domain development. It is anticipated that the new Centrelink Customer Service Centre will be open in November 2001,” Senator Vanstone said.
“The establishment of a Centrelink Customer Service Centre at Marion will significantly improve customer access in the south western suburbs due to its close proximity to public transport links.
“For the first time, Centrelink will have a service presence adjacent to the Marion Shopping Centre, which is one of the key retail and service centres outside of Adelaide’s CBD.
“The proposed new Marion Customer Service Centre will deliver services to all of Centrelink’s families, aged /retired, people with disabilities, job seekers, youth and students in a new style open-plan office designed to create a friendly atmosphere with customers able to do business in more open, relaxed and personalised surroundings.
“Staff and customers from the Edwardstown Customer Service Centre will transfer to the Marion Customer Service Centre.
“The opening of a Centrelink Customer Service Centre at Marion demonstrates the Government’s commitment to improving and enhancing Centrelink services.
“Centrelink and their staff are continuously seeking out new, improved and more efficient ways of making services more accessible to customers and this future re-location is a demonstration of that philosophy,” Senator Vanstone said.
