Acknowledging the contributions of Vietnamese Australians
The Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister for Social Services, Senator Concetta Fierravanti-Wells, today represented the Prime Minister at the Vietnamese Community in Australia NSW Chapter’s Vietnamese New Year Festival 2014.
“I was pleased to send my best wishes, and those of the Prime Minister, to the Vietnamese community of New South Wales for the New Year Festival,” Senator Fierravanti-Wells said.
“On this year – the Year of the Horse – we reflect on the time we share with family, friends and the community and hope the year brings liberty and happiness for all.
“It is also an opportunity to reflect on the significant contribution people of Vietnamese heritage have made to our country.
“Australia’s cultural diversity is a source of great social and economic strength, and the contributions of migrants and their families spanning generations have helped create the Australia we enjoy today.
“It is in the interests of all Australians that we work together in building a positive future for all, through mutual respect, cooperation and understanding.
“I wish the Vietnamese community a safe and prosperous Lunar New Year and good fortune in the Year of the Horse,” Senator Fierravanti-Wells said.
