Shorten wrong on Younger Onset Dementia Key Worker Program
The claim by Bill Shorten today that the Government is ceasing support for people with younger onset dementia is false.
It was the previous Labor Government that took the decision that all funding under the Younger Onset Dementia Key Worker Program would transition to the National Disability Insurance Scheme.
Mr Shorten is not across the detail of decisions taken by Labor in government.
This Government has ensured that the funding for the Younger Onset Dementia Key Worker Program will continue in its current format until the middle of next year.
I have been having good discussions with Alzheimer’s Australia about how government support for people with younger onset dementia is best provided, and whether adjustments to the previous government’s plans are required.
I look forward to continuing to work with Alzheimer’s Australia on this important issue.
