Make it yours: show us what you’ve got! National Youth Week 2005

Young Australians aged 12 to 25 are reminded to enter this year’s National Youth Week Talent Competitions as part of the celebrations of National Youth Week 2005.

The Parliamentary Secretary for Children and Youth Affairs, the Hon Sussan Ley, today encouraged young Australians to enter the 2005 National Youth Week Talent Competitions – WriteIT, RockIT, ShootIT, DesignIT and SnapIT, before 1 March 2005.

With the closing date for the National Talent Competitions approaching, Mrs Ley urged young people to get involved in National Youth Week and show Australia what they have to offer.

“The National Talent Competitions give young people a chance to showcase their talents and will help to unearth some of Australia’s youngest and most dynamic writers, musicians, film makers, designers and photographers,” Mrs Ley said.

“Entrants have the opportunity to win fantastic prizes and unique experiences including recording their own song, working on a short film, work experience at two leading youth magazines or a Sydney-based design agency.

“National Youth Week is Australia’s largest annual celebration of young people. The theme for this year’s Youth Week is ‘make it yours’ with young Australians being encouraged to make the event their own and get involved in their communities.

“National Youth Week is the time to celebrate the contribution young people make to their community. I encourage all young people, their families and local communities to get involved,” Mrs Ley said.

National Youth Week 2005 is a joint Australian, State, Territory and Local Government initiative.

Entries for the National Youth Week Talent Competitions – WriteIT, RockIT, ShootIT, DesignIT and SnapIT close 1 March 2005.

National Youth Week runs from 9 to 17 April 2005.
