Queensland Crime and Misconduct Commission

I welcome the Queensland Crime and Misconduct Commission announcement today of its decision to review current accountability systems used to administer State funds in the Indigenous sector.

The Australian Government will fully support and cooperate with this review.

The receipt of government funding for public purposes carries with it responsibilities to maintain the highest levels of accountability, probity and transparency.

Community organisations funded by the Australian Government are required to be incorporated and sign up to performance-based and legally enforceable funding agreements which set out the terms and conditions governing the use of those funds, including audit and accountability requirements.

The Australian Government acknowledges Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples throughout Australia and their continuing connection to land, water, culture and community. We pay our respects to the Elders both past and present.
